Unfortunately, the side-effects of many illnesses are anger and aggression. This is also known as challenging behaviour. In order for your staff to protect themselves and those they care for, it is vital they know how to recognise and diffuse situations involving challenging behaviour. It is your responsibility as an employer to keep your staff safe, so training them on how to diffuse a situation, before having to physically defend themselves, is certainly a step in the right direction.
